Mark Briscoe new executive director

Mark Briscoe
ROSWELL, New Mexico — Mark Briscoe has been appointed executive director of the International UFO Museum & Research Center by the Museum's board of directors.

Briscoe had been serving as the Museum's operations officer since Julie Shuster retired as executive director.

"We are fortunate to have Mark as our executive director," said Jack Swickard, president of the board of directors. "Finding someone to continue the museum and research growth established by Julie was a daunting task. Mark will be able to build on what Julie has established."

Building demolished to add parking

ROSWELL — The intersection of Second and Main streets in downtown Roswell will be closed between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Nov. 11 while the two-story building on the southwest corner is demolished.

Roswell police will divert traffic around the intersection during demolition of the building that formerly housed a gift shop. In addition, the state Highway Department will post message boards and signs directing motorists around the demolition area.

The building is being leveled to make room for additional parking for the International UFO Museum & Research Center, said Jack Swickard, president of the Museum’s board of directors.
